While doing one of my first open houses ever, I was in Agate Bay meeting a man whose family had summered nearby over the last 70 years. He had been deer hunting in the subdivision decades before it got sliced up into neat parcels. To me it’s always added a bit of intrigue to this sunny North Shore gem of a neighborhood. Agate Bay is great because it’s mostly level, is the North Shore’s “Banana Belt,” the parcels are nicely-sized, and there are some starter cabins that border USFS land. Also, it’s got great rental potential because of the proximity to the public beach at Carnelian Bay – if your home has membership to the Swimming Club that’s a huge bonus; and if you have membership to the second tier Homeowners’ Association that owns a pier, then you can rent a buoy.
